Skinboosting with Restylane dermal filler – maintaining a radiant glow, as we age gracefully

Modern lifestyles, pollution, stress, age and diet result in the gradual loss of hyaluronic acid in our skin, replacing a soft, radiant skin with the rough, dehydrated skin many of us recognize in the mirror.

During a skinbooster treatment, micro-droplets of hyaluronic acid (filler), are injected diffusely, mid to deep dermis. This stretches the macrophages and stimulates deep collagen production, improving the elasticity of the skin. Because the filler is cross linked, it stays in the dermis, drawing water and creating intense rehydration – one of the biggest benefits of this treatment. The deep rehydration gives a plumping effect which also improves fine lines.

With skinboosters, we are treating the skin from the inside out. We do still need to treat the skin from the outside in, and we all know the benefits that chemical peels and microneedling have on overall texture and functioning of the skin cells.
However, the only way to replace hyaluronic acid mid to deep dermis is with a course of skinbooster treatments.

For the best results, we recommend a skinbooster treatment monthly, for 3 months. Thereafter, once every 6-12 months
Investment in this treatment plan allows the cross-linked hyaluronic acid to continually “do its thing”… stimulating collagen and drawing water to hydrate and plump the skin, giving the radiance and glow we are all looking for.

FAQs about Skinboosters:

What to expect during the treatment?

At skintherapy, skinboosters are jointly administered by our doctor and aesthetician. Although, you can expect mild to moderate discomfort during the active part of the treatment, we have a carefully planned protocol to minimize pain and to pamper you where possible (during the numbing phase). Skinbooster treatments at skintherapy, include PDT light therapy after the treatment, to help with recovery and healing.

What areas can be treated with skin boosters?

The most common areas treated with skinboosters are the face, neck and hands.

Which skinbooster is right for me?

There are 2 different types of skinbooster treatments available:

  • Our Restylane Vital (20mg cross linked hyaluronic acid) is ideal for patients with good skin quality
  • The Restylane Vital light (12mg cross linked hyaluronic acid) is very beneficial for areas where the skin is thinner (neck, under the eyes, hands)
What is the downtime of skinbooster treatments?

For the first 2 days, you may have some bruising and swelling - we usually explain to our patients that they are likely to feel like “a speckled egg” for up to 3-5 days. The benefits of the treatment will be visible from about 2 weeks post procedure, and will continue to improve over the next weeks to months as the stable HA continues to provide hydration and a plumping effect on your skin.
